Sewerage Rehabilitation Manual (SRM)
Sustaining and enhancing operational effectiveness throughout the industry
For nearly 40 years, the Sewerage Rehabilitation Manual (SRM) has been a key resource for planning upgrading work on sewer systems in the UK and worldwide. It has now been extensively revised, updated, extended and developed into the sewerage risk management website, which presents an iterative, comprehensive risk-based approach to the management of sewer system assets.
The widening skills gap is a significant concern as experienced professionals retire, taking valuable knowledge and expertise with them. Alongside comprehensive strategies to attract, train and retain talent, the industry needs accessible, sector-specific guidance covering key areas of operational and strategic water management. This will support continuous learning and professional development, help preserve industry knowledge and foster a culture of lifelong learning, helping the water sector remain competitive and capable of meeting future challenges.
